Well, speak of the most loved films of Hindi cinema, and Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ will surely top the list. Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan starrer family drama was the highest-grossing Indian film of the 1990s and also went on to become the highest-earning Bollywood film ever. But did you know initially people did not like the film at the premier and walked out of theatres? Surprised right? In a recent interview, Sooraj made this shocking revelation.

Speaking with Indian Express, the director stated that he thought he had made a good  filmbut then he started wondering, 'Ye kya hogaya' when the audience started walking out. Sooraj Barjatya was quoted as saying, “I learnt it very early with Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! because I thought I had made the greatest film, but when we had the premiere people were not liking it! I clearly remember the audience walking out with every song! I thought I had made a good but then I started wondering, Ye kya hogaya.” ALSO READ: THROWBACK! ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ was reportedly made on the budget of shopping Rs 6 crores and it earned just only Rs 29 lakhs during the opening weekend. Many film critics believed it would be a big flop at the box office but the movie’s collection scaled up after a few days and minted Rs 100 crores in India alone. The film celebrated Indian wedding traditions and tells a story about a family's unconditional love and the sacrifices one makes for their family. ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ also starred Mohnish Bahl, Renuka Shahane, Alok Nath, Reema Lagoo, Anupam Kher, and others.

Meanwhile, Sooraj Barjatya’s 'Uunchai' starring Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, and Parineeti Chopra has recently hit the theatres.
